In the November 2013 white paper, “Appropriate Use of Medical Resources,” the AHA’s Physician Leadership Forum identified a “top five” list of hospital-based procedures or interventions that warrant deeper review and discussion by patients and physicians. One of the five, appropriate antimicrobial stewardship, is the topic of our next webinar. Please join Arjun Srinivasan, MD, FSHEA, CAPT USPHS, Associate Director for Healthcare Associated Infection Prevention Programs, and Medical Director, Get Smart for Healthcare, Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to hear an overview of the clinical evidence supporting antimicrobial stewardship programs and the CDC’s core elements in developing a hospital antimicrobial stewardship program.
