AHA asks MedPAC to consider other issues regarding SGR
Rich Umbdenstock, president & CEO, American Hospital Association (AHA), recently sent a letter to members of the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) urging them to consider the AHA’s additional comments regarding full repeal of the Medicare physician fee schedule sustainable growth rate (SGR).

AHA urges "Super Committee" to protect GME funding
In a letter to members of the congressional "Super Committee," the American Hospital Association, along with 39 other national hospital and physician groups, asked committee members to protect Medicare Graduate Medical Education (GME) in order to preserve Medicare beneficiaries’ access to health care services.

Joint Commission OPPE/FPPE Needs Assessment Survey reminder
The Physician Leadership Forum would like you to complete a survey from the American Board of Medical Specialties regarding the Joint Commission’s Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation/Focused Professional Practice Evaluation requirements. The purpose of this survey is to identify the current needs of physician leaders and their credentialing staff relevant to implementing these Joint Commission OPPE/FPPE requirements.
 
We ask that you please take a few minutes out of your busy schedule to complete the survey. This survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. If you have not already done so, please complete this survey no later than October 10. Thanks for your participation.

The first national meeting about the new medical staff: Specialty hospitalists and employed physicians
Soon, hospital staffing models will be radically different. On November 4, hospital leaders can join leaders of hospital-based specialties – such as obstetrics, surgery, neurology and others – to be a part of the next wave of change in hospital care.
