On March 31, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the proposed rule for the new Medicare accountable care organization (ACO) shared savings program. At the same time, CMS and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the Inspector General (OIG), the Department of Justice (DOJ) in conjunction with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) issued proposed policy statements regarding the legal issues around the creation of ACOs. CMS will accept comments on its proposed rule through June 6. The DOJ/FTC and the IRS will accept public comments through May 31.
This 90 minute webinar provides an overview of the rule and gives you the chance to hear from Dr. Nicholas Wolter, chief executive officer, Billings Clinic—a participant in the Physician Group Payment (PGP) Demonstration Program, which informed many of the aspects of the ACO regulations.
Our first webinar focused on the politics of health care reform and the implications of the current environment in Washington on physicians and the practice of health care. This webinar explores the regulatory changes that will impact patient care and the growing need for hospitals and physicians to work in close alignment. You'll hear an update on where the regulations stand, what you need to prepare for, and the benefits and challenges that lay ahead.
