Join the American Hospital Association's (AHA) Physician Leadership Forum to hear from AHA staff on key legislative and regulatory changes impacting physicians and patient care.
On December 23, President Obama signed into law the Temporary Payroll Tax Cut Continuation Act of 2011 that delayed for two months a 27 percent scheduled payment cut for physicians who treat Medicare payments. Unless Congress takes additional action, this payment cut will take effect on March 1. Tom Nickels, AHA Senior Vice President for Federal Relations will discuss the current political environment, the potential impact of continued deficit reduction talks on physician and provider payment, and AHA advocacy efforts.
In addition, Ashley Thompson, AHA Director of Policy, will discuss key Medicare physician payment changes for 2012, including revisions to the physician quality reporting system, e-prescribing and electronic health record incentive programs. She will also review recent regulatory changes to encourage physicians and hospitals collaboration, and the numerous demonstrations and pilot programs offered from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation.
